A cell culture model was built using a Lab-on-a-Chip approach to study the dynamics of the blood–testis barrier within the testicular microenvironment.

The study aimed to make barrier integrity assessable under microfluidic conditions; suitable conditions for seeding density, culture duration and barrier monitoring were established. The model is intended to provide a basis for permeability studies in reproductive biology and pharmacology.
